COVID-19

I have no way of knowing whether I had COVID-19 or not, but I was pretty unwell. I thought I would share with you my experience of what I believe, was indeed, COVID-19.

Day 1:

I woke up feeling like I’d been hit by a train. My head felt ready to explode and I was very tired. I spent most of the day struggling to stay awake.

Day 2:

I felt a bit better and thought perhaps I have had one of those 24 hour bugs. Although still very tired, my head did not feel as bad as the first day. FaceTime with my children definitely made me feel a little better.

Day 3:

I had a tight chest and severe fatigue. Taking deep breathes was not easy. Just walking to the kitchen was such hard work.

Day 4:

Today was very much like the one before. My chest was tight and the fatigue was a real problem. This was also the day I felt really low. I tried doing a few chores, but that was not easy. I kept having to sit down and rest.

Day 5:

Still feeling rough, I decided to have a shower and get dressed which did make me feel a little better.

Days 6-9:

Over the next four days I started to feel better. Tasks were still quite hard and I needed a lot of rest, but as each day passed, things got easier.

Day 10:

I thought it was a good idea to get back to training. This is when I realised just how much the illness had taken out of me. It was like I had gone straight back to how I felt on my lowest day.

Throughout all of this I really couldn’t taste much although my appetite wasn’t that bad.

It has taken me around 3 weeks to get back to a level of training I am happy with.

Being a PT, I’d like to think I’m quite a strong and fit individual. I train 5-6 times per week and I eat reasonably well (most of the time). Yet this virus or whatever it is had knocked me for six.

So, please stay at home, and if you have to go out, make sure you stick to the governments guidelines.

Stay safe.
